Kansas Department of Agriculture
- Mission:
Achieve the department’s vision by administering the laws and programs
assigned to the department in an effective and efficient manner, and
provide leadership to benefit agriculture and rural Kansas so they can
contribute to the health and prosperity of the entire state.
Division of Water Resources, KS
Department of Agriculture - Administers 28 state laws, including the Kansas
Water Appropriation Act, and statutes concerning construction of dams,
levees and other changes to streams within Kansas.
Kansas Biological Survey -
Mission:
To gather information
on the kinds, distribution, and abundance of plants and animals in
Kansas, and to compile, analyze, interpret, and distribute this
information.
Kansas
Corporation Commission - Mission: To
protect the public interest through impartial, and efficient resolution
of all jurisdictional issues. The agency shall regulate rates, service
and safety of public utilities, common carriers, motor carriers, and
regulate oil and gas production by protecting correlative rights and
environmental resources.
Kansas
Department of Commerce - Mission: To
empower individuals, businesses and communities to realize prosperity in Kansas.
Kansas Geological Survey - Mission: To
conduct geological studies and research and to collect, correlate,
preserve and disseminate
information leading to a better understanding of the geology of Kansas,
with special emphasis on natural resources of economic value, water
quality and quantity, and geologic hazards.
Kansas Department of Health and Environment
- Mission:
To
protect the health and environment of all Kansans by promoting
responsible choices.
Kansas State University, Research and Extension
- Mission: We are dedicated to a safe, sustainable, competitive
food and fiber system and to strong, healthy communities, families and
youth through integrated research, analysis and education
Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks
- Mission: Conserve and enhance Kansas natural heritage, its
wildlife and its habitats; provide the public with opportunities for the
use of the natural resources.
Kansas
Water Office - Mission: To ensure
adequate quantities of good quality water to meet future needs. To
coordinate the water resource operations of agencies at all levels of
government.

Conservation Commission - Mission:
The
State Conservation Commission works to protect and enhance Kansas’
natural resources through the development, implementation, and
maintenance of policies, guidelines, and programs designed to assist
local governments and individuals in conserving the state’s renewable
resources.
